New rugs:-)

Hi All,

Lately I've added to my collection two new rugs:-)
A while ago I wrote how to paint a rug; here is the link to the first post. I used again IKEA ERSLEV rugs.

Decorating my house is so enjoyable, all the little things are putting a smile on my face. My bedroom is far from being finished, I don't even have a bed side locker:-( But first things first! I decided that it's time to paint another rug to bring some colour to the room. Plus it's so nice and warm when you get up in the morning, and your feet are not on the cold floor. Any way all you need to do is follow the steps from my earlier post.

I prefer to use the brushes instead of the roller, but many girls use rollers and they seems to do a good job too. I think once you try to paint a rug, you will know after a while what do you prefer to use. I recon you should have a roller and a brush prepared for painting.

Don't mind the mess around it but this is how my first rug looks, I left it overnight to dry. Make sure that you won't walk on it, because it needs to dry properly.

This time I used grey spray paint that I bought in ALDI (it was €3,99, the cheapest paint I have ever seen). It did a good job. It's so much quicker to paint the rug that way, but it smells so badly. Without a mask don't even start! The down side is that you need a lot of cans to receive good results.

Here is the second one:-) I’m so happy with the result. I didn't have enough yellow paint, so I mixed three old paints: white, yellow and orange.

Here they are:-)

Don't mind the horrible bed side locker, this is a temporary solution.

Hope you like them as much as I do:-)

Love

  13. A rug is such a delicate material. So, you must be very careful when cleaning and painting it. Reminder: Do not use any type of paint except fabric paint in painting your rug. The acrylic and latex paints may work on the rug, but it is best to use the fabric paint, particularly for those washable rugs. ->Jackelyn Lippard

    1. thx Jackelyn for advice. My rugs won't fit in the washing maschine, therefore I'm using only cleansing products for the rugs and so far they look great.
