10 Best Primers

PRIMERS do for your skin what lingerie does for your figure - they smooth, flatter, conceal and hold things in place, so that everything you put on top of them looks immediately better. Whether you want to blur wrinkles, mattify, minimise the appearance of pores or even skin tone, primers do this whilst creating a velvety base for make-up and helping it to stay put for longer.

Here are 10 BEST PRIMERS selected by Vogue

Smashbox

This primer has a fiercely loyal following - so much so that the brand has launched an entire range of alternative versions to suit every different skin type and requirement. The original is second to none, and gives skin a soft-focus finish and silky texture.

Benefit

Devoted to making large pores look less noticeable, The Porefessional's oil-free formula and long-lasting results have made it a Benefit bestseller ever since its launch in 2011.

 Chanel

Chanel's Le Blanc De Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base manages to mattify skin whilst also providing a dewy glow without even the slightest hint of sparkle or shimmer, as well as evening out discoloured areas. Also great mixed with foundation for extra radiance and staying power.

Laura Mercier

The clue is in the name - this primer is all about luminous, youthful skin. Use all over the skin for a dewy glow, or apply to cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and the forehead for a subtle but noticeable radiance.

Clinique

Clinique's range of six trouble-shooting primers each target a different skin concern, from sallowness to redness. The colour-correcting formula for dullness in darker skin tones has a subtle bronze tint, to avoid the chalky finish that some primers can leave.

Hourglass

This lightweight primer glides easily on, leaving a velvety finish and keeping make-up in place all day long. Plus the SPF protection saves an extra step.

Bourjois

If shiny skin is your nemesis then look to Bourjois's mattifying formula, which refines pores and smooths skin for easy make-up application with no caking.
I'm using this one, and I'm going to stick with it:-)

Urban Decay

If keeping eye make-up in place is your aim, Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion is the one for the job. Lightweight and easy to apply, it prevents liner from budging and keeps shadow from creasing.

MAC

This beauty classic promotes even skin tone and creates the ideal base for make-up, plus it noticeably reduces oiliness.

As a MAC lover i need to try this one:-)

Eve Lom

More than just make-up, Eve Lom's Flawless Radiance Primer brings together multiple plant extracts and vitamins to moisturise, nourish and protect as it works. Add to that an easily-absorbed formula and clever light-diffusing particles and you've got pretty much the perfect primer.

  2. Great info!! I'm currently using two primers out of these top ten products. I use Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and their primer in green color to cover up redness on my face. They work great-they give you smooth makeup look and conceal red spots!! Laura Mercier primer radiance is pretty awesome. It gives you an instant glow. I normally use it for a 5-minute-get-ready-makeup :)
