Lady Gaga has been confirmed as Versace's spring/summer 2014 face and wears the campaign look astride a white charger at the American Music Awards
Versace's spring/summer 14 campaign starring Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has been officially revealed as the new face of Versace - via a teaser shot of the house's spring/summer 2014 campaign that Mert Alas' (one half of photographer duo Mert and Marcus) posted on Instagram on Friday and the following day on the Versace Twitter feed: '#Versace proudly confirms @LadyGaga as the face of SS14 campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott'.
And just to ram the message home and prove that it was all part of a carefully orchestrated drip-feed media campaign as opposed to a snapper getting Insta-happy, Gaga wore a practically identical number at the weekend's American Music Awards - accessorising in true Gaga style with an animatronic white charger that was part horse of Troy, part Lady Godiva inspired.

In the campaign shot Gaga is presented reclining on a chaise as a lavender-clad, flat-ironed peroxide blonde - a carbon copy of Versace creative director Donatella - sporting the house's signature Medusa head as a badge on honour.
Donatella herself is quoted as saying: "I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign. I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA."
It looks like Donatella was looking for a girl who looks nearly like her. Don't you think that they look like sisters?
